Reservation Process

How to Apply

We limit each passage to four crew members. This is intentional — not a limitation, but the foundation of what makes Noland different.

“Selection is based on the order of booking and the suitability of the applicant for the offshore nature of the passage.”

Click the Apply Button

At the top of this page you will find the apply button. Click it to be taken to the application form. This is the starting point for your reservation.

Fill Out the Application Form

he form gathers the information we need to assess your readiness for the passage — your experience, motivation, and availability. Complete it carefully and honestly. This is a preliminary reservation only; it does not constitute a confirmed booking.

Selection & Confirmation

Once your form is submitted, a selection process begins based on the order of booking and applicant suitability. We will contact you to confirm your place or place you on the waiting list.

Waiting List

If you are placed on the waiting list, we encourage you to explore our other passages and check your inbox regularly. Places may become available if a confirmed crew member does not complete payment by the deadline.

Full Payment to Confirm

Once selected, the full cost of the trip must be paid no later than 30 days before the departure date. Failure to pay by the deadline returns your seat to the waiting list.

Important to Know

No Transfers Between Trips

A paid trip cannot be transferred to another scheduled voyage under any circumstances — with the sole exception of the captain cancelling the original trip.

Person Transfers Allowed

A confirmed and paid reservation may be transferred to another individual. If you are unable to join, another person may take your place.

Waiting List Priority

If you are on the waiting list, your seat becomes available if a confirmed crew member misses the payment deadline. Check your inbox regularly.

Payment

How to pay for your passage.

Payment is made by bank wire transfer only. There is no online payment system. Once your application is confirmed, you will receive full payment instructions.

The deadline is 30 days before the start of the trip. Missing this deadline means your seat returns to the waiting list without exception.

What to Pack

Your sailing suitcase.

After your reservation is confirmed, you will receive a detailed packing list. The following is a provisional guide.

Space aboard SY Mica is limited and shared. How you pack matters — both for the boat and for the crew.

“Hard bags are not permitted on board under any circumstances.”

Get in touch if you have any questions about your packing before departure.

Allowed

Soft travel bag

Sports bag, climbing bag, or similar — flexible, foldable material.

Backpack

One backpack in addition to your main travel bag.

Sleeping bag

If required for your passage dates.

Not Permitted

Hard luggage

Rigid suitcases or wheeled bags of any size are not permitted.

Excess baggage

You will be informed of volume limits on confirmation.

Travel Dates

Flexibility is not optional.

All dates are subject to sea conditions. We will make every effort to maintain the scheduled departure — but the ocean has the final word.

“Do not book fixed return travel before receiving confirmation of arrival from the skipper.”

Arrival dates carry a higher probability of delay than departure dates. Plan your return travel accordingly, and build flexibility into your schedule after each passage.

If you board the vessel before the originally booked date, your reservation may include accommodation or additional provisions onboard.

How a passage unfolds

Day 1 — Departure

Your experience begins with the security briefing on the first scheduled day, regardless of when you board. If you arrive early, onboard accommodation may be available.

Days at Sea

The passage proceeds according to conditions. Weather routing, watch rotations, and sail management continue around the clock. Flexibility and participation are expected from all crew.

Arrival

Your adventure ends when we dock at the destination port. In the event of weather constraints, we may arrive at a nearby port. The skipper confirms the final arrival date and location.

After Arrival — Return Travel

Do not book return flights until arrival is confirmed by the skipper. Arrival timing is weather-dependent on all Atlantic passages.
